Big West Conference

The Big West Conference sponsors men’s swimming at a limited level, with recent changes impacting its overall presence in the sport. Notably, Cal Poly’s men’s and women’s swimming program was eliminated in 2025, resulting in a reduction in the number of active teams within the conference. As a result, the Big West currently has minimal representation in Division I men’s swimming.

Historically, Big West programs provided valuable opportunities for student-athletes, especially those based in California, to compete at the Division I level while staying close to home. While the conference's current footprint in men’s swimming is small, individual programs continue to support talented athletes through alternate affiliations and competitive schedules.

Prospective swimmers should verify the current status of any Big West-affiliated program, as team sponsorships and conference alignments are subject to change from year to year.
