Samuel Quarles

Chief Technology Officer & Consultant

As the Chief Technology Officer, I set out to help build the kind of platform I wish I had when I was going through the recruiting process — one based on the same system I used to guide myself through it. Before joining Lane Line Recruiting, I built and sold SwimRecruitNews to SwimSwam, creating one of the largest competitive swimming recruiting news platforms in the space. With a major in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and hands-on experience in full-stack development, product design, and growth marketing, I’ve combined my background in swimming and technology to create simple, practical tools that help student-athletes and their families navigate the recruiting journey with clarity and confidence.

My Journey

My journey in sports began early, as I grew up playing football, soccer, and swimming. As a Navy brat, I moved from coast to coast, spending ages 7 to 14 swimming for Tide Swimming in Virginia Beach, VA. During that time, I set eight state records as an age-group swimmer, quickly realizing that swimming was not just a sport for me — it was my passion.

In 2019, I moved to San Diego, where I continued to train and compete, setting multiple school, sectional, LSC, and club records. My years of hard work and dedication eventually led me to commit to the University of California, Berkeley to swim and pursue a degree in Computer Science.

Since arriving at Cal, I’ve been fortunate to be part of two National Runner-Up teams and an Atlantic Coastal Conference Championship team, competing alongside some of the best athletes and coaches in the country.
